Geocreationist Principles of Evolution
I have to admit that when I started this blog, I knew what the core concepts would be:
- Science is accurate.
- Scripture is accurate.
- Young Earth Creationism is correct that Genesis 1 is literal and historical.
- Old Earth Creationism is correct that the earth is old.
- Gap Theorists are correct that there is a gap in the creation story (it’s Day 4 though, not Genesis 1:1)
- Day-age Theorists are correct that each day maps to an age.
- Theistic Evolutionists are correct that God caused mutations and allowed Natural Selection to occur.
There are other principles as well that have been added and/or refined over the past several months. However, one thing that has been slow in coming has been a solid theory for how Evolution and Creation work into each other. Well, over the last several weeks, I have developed and documented several principles of Evolution, which I would like to now bring together.
Principles introduced in “Evolution and Geocreationism I“:
- When I say “Evolution”, I simply mean the accumulation of changes over time, leading to new species. Contrary to common usage, no exclusion of God is meant or intended.
- Small changes can accumulate into a new species.
- Genesis and the fossils both record God’s intentional creation of life.
- Some selection was natural, some divine.
Principles introduced in “Evolution and Geocreationism II“:
- God did not simply create the process of Evolution and then retreat.
- God created actively during the creation “day times”, and let Evolution produce what it would during the day and the night.
- God let Evolution produce what it would while He rested on Day 7.
- God introduced mutations as it pleased Him and pruned the results of Evolution as it pleased Him.
Principles introduced in “Genesis 1:11 to 13 - Creation of Plant Life“:
- Plants did not appear on Day 3.
- God removed a insurmountable hindrance to seeded land plants (a lack of land).
- Creating land was all that God did on Day 3 toward the creation of seeded land plants.
- God “let the land produce vegetation”, implying a voluntary (temporary) deferral Evolution.
- Non-seeded plants were transitional forms that led to seeded plants.
Other principles I may not have said outright:
- Where Evolution proceeded unencumbered, we are likely to see transitional forms in the fossil record.
- Where God created mutations Himself, we are likely to see no transitional forms.
- Presence of a transitional form does not rule out divine interaction.
- Absence of a transitional form does not mean God acted.

[…] As for articles, I noticed that Mike over at Geocreationism.com has published a few things that I just have to address (most specifically this). I think I’ll write a series of articles, but that probably depends on how much material I end up getting. A series of articles has been the SOP for me in response to a particular website in the past.
